About This Video

So this one isn’t a fitness wearable review—this is me telling you what happened when a tornado basically went right over top of my house. I show the exact path it took (my house is in the lower right), and you can see the destruction it left behind. Around 2:15 PM our phones started firing off emergency alerts, and I explain the difference between a tornado watch and a tornado warning—warning means there’s actual circulation spotted or a tornado sighting, and it was headed right at us. While we were hunkered down in the basement, at 2:34 PM I got a motion alert from my security cameras and saw an Amazon truck in my driveway delivering to my neighbor. I ran out to tell the driver to get inside with us, but she said her supervisor told her she wasn’t allowed to leave the truck. Two minutes later—2:35 PM—the tornado touched down about a mile away and tracked straight toward our area, roughly 150 yards wide with winds around 110 mph. It came within about 100 yards of my house. We heard wind, then something actually struck the house—boards and debris ended up on my roof, including what looked like part of someone’s shed or barn. The biggest takeaway: in a tornado, 50 feet can be the difference between nothing and total destruction, and I’m taking weather alerts way more seriously now.
