In this live recap, I sat down with my buddy Tyler right after the Apple event to break down what actually matters on the iPhone 12 lineup—especially the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. Because I use iPhones in real-world video workflows (real estate video, quick shoots, fast edits, AirDrop, the whole deal), I’m looking at this less like a spec sheet and more like a tool. We talked about the new Ceramic Shield claim (Apple says 4x better drop protection), 5G as more “future-proofing” than an immediate must-have, and the usual faster chip upgrades. The biggest highlight for me is MagSafe. Wireless charging is annoying when alignment is off, so the built-in magnet system should make charging and accessories (wallets, mounts, dash setups, even future gimbals) way more practical. On the negative side, we still have the notch, still no USB‑C (I’m over dongles), and Apple didn’t really talk battery life—which usually means “don’t expect miracles.” Camera-wise, the Pro Max is the real jump: a 47% larger sensor and sensor-shift stabilization (moving the sensor, not just the lens). Add Dolby Vision 10‑bit HDR video and Apple’s computational photography, and for creators, the Pro Max is the one that actually feels like a meaningful upgrade.
