About This Video

In this Tech Chat livestream I’m doing what I always love doing: hanging out, answering questions, and doing a bit of tech support along the way. We bounce from Linux (and why I’d genuinely pick it over Windows 11 if I was forced) to the absolute clown-show that is Windows 11’s hardware requirements turning perfectly fine machines into e-waste. I also tell the story of how I nearly got kicked out of college for booting Ubuntu off a USB stick—because their “security” was basically just Windows rules and vibes. We also get into what I’ve been working on outside of reviews: a Zigbee CO2 sensor project with temperature/humidity, and an optional Bosch laser particulate sensor that’s hilariously tiny (and not hilariously cheap). I talk through why I’m sticking with Zigbee instead of Matter over Thread (spoiler: the paywall for proper onboarding/testing is absurd), plus the rough BOM costs if I ever make these available. And yes, we go full monitor-nerd too: G-Sync Pulsar, backlight strobing, why it can feel like an LCD “last hurrah,” and why I’m still firmly in the “OLED is just better in real use” camp—especially when strobing gives me migraines.
