In this video I’m taking a proper look at the PXN P5 8K (or “P58K” as it’s plastered everywhere), which is a deceptively named 2000Hz-ish wireless controller with a frankly incredible price tag. I liked the original PXN P5 well enough, so the obvious question is: is this “8K” version actually an upgrade, or is it weirdly a step backwards? Externally it’s basically the same controller—same offset sticks, same rear macro buttons, same trigger locks—so all the interesting stuff is under the surface. The big changes are the move from Hall effect sticks to capacitive sticks, and a faster MCU/dongle setup. In theory the sticks should be more accurate and longer lasting, but in practice I didn’t love the feel—there’s a sensitivity/acceleration curve that caught me out, especially in FPS games and even Dirt Rally 2.0. The other headline is polling: despite the “8K” branding, my testing lands it around 2–2.5kHz wired and wireless, which feels… misleading. The saving grace is latency. Using my OSRTT tool, I measured 15.4ms over the 2.4GHz dongle and about 13ms wired, which is genuinely excellent for the money. Even with the stiff D-pad and naff trigger locks, at ~£37 it’s still a pretty wild deal—just know you may want stick-curve tweaks, and the app situation is sketchy.
