About This Video

In this video I’m testing the Samsung Galaxy A06, which is basically one of the lowest-end phones you can grab in Samsung’s A lineup—made for people who aren’t trying to drop 50–100k on a phone. I’m looking at it from the angle most of us actually care about at this price: does it run properly, does it feel like a headache to use, and is it worth spending your money on as a “stop the gap” phone while you save for something bigger. What surprised me is the performance. The one I used is the 4GB RAM / 64GB storage model, and for a budget phone it’s a really good performer—not great, but good. Apps open reasonably fast, I didn’t get freezes, hiccups, or crashes, and it even ran the games I tried (full Android, not Android Go). The design also doesn’t scream “low end” with the flat sides and clean look—until you see the thick bezels. The big trade-off is the camera experience. Daytime photos are good enough for the price, but the shutter is weirdly slow and inconsistent—like the camera got arthritis—so you can literally miss the moment. Battery life is solid though: easily a full day, and sometimes 1.5 to 2 days depending on what you’re doing. Overall, judged by price, the A06 is a decent buy if you need something affordable that just works.
