About This Video

Every single company needs someone who can manage systems, servers, cloud, networking, security, storage, and backups—and that’s exactly why sysadmin roles aren’t going away. In this video I walk you through 15 system administrator interview questions that I’ve asked (a lot of) sysadmins over the years, and I give you the framework for how to answer them without sounding like you just memorized a textbook. The goal is to help you show real-world thinking: how you monitor environments, how you troubleshoot, and how you communicate when things go sideways. I cover practical topics like monitoring (Nagios/PRTG/SolarWinds style tools), Microsoft Autopilot and Intune, backup and recovery strategy with the 3-2-1 model, Company Portal, account management across Windows/Mac/Linux, VLAN segregation, DNS fundamentals, and patching discipline (WSUS/SCCM/Patch My PC-style approaches). I also hit the behavioral side hard: using the STAR method, staying calm during outages, and keeping the business updated. And I’ll say it again—build a homelab, break stuff, fix it, and keep learning (especially AI/automation) so you don’t get outdated.
