About This Video

This build is slightly ridiculous in the best way: I’ve got a server over there and a server over here, and they’re talking to each other like they’re on the same switch… but there’s no cable between them. In this video I walk you through how I extended my homelab from point A to point B using a proper point-to-point wireless bridge, not “just Wi‑Fi.” The whole goal is simple: get a real LAN link between two locations when trenching, drilling, conduits, and running cable is expensive, disruptive, and honestly insanely annoying. I set up one unit as the station at my main homelab and the other as the remote CPE, creating a long-distance wireless bridge that can scale way beyond a typical home Wi‑Fi range. On the remote side, I plug two PoE IP cameras directly into the CPE—no switch required—so my NVR and core network just see those cameras as if they’re local. I also show the Ruijie Cloud management side, including spectrum scanning to help you pick a clean channel. If you’re trying to link buildings, set up a mini “DR site,” or even connect to a mate down the road for file sharing or LAN gaming, this is exactly the kind of setup that just works.
