The goal is simple: start with the elementary building blocks, then later you stack certs and experience on top of it and go land that cybersecurity role earning the big bucks. I walk you through setting up an ethical hacking lab using virtualization (VirtualBox, VMware Workstation, Proxmox) and installing Kali Linux—the bomb for learning tools like Nmap, Metasploit, Wi‑Fi testing, and password auditing. Then we get practical with firewalls (hardware vs software) and I recommend spinning up pfSense so you can learn ports, IPs, allow/deny rules, whitelisting, blacklisting, and even IDS/IPS concepts. I also talk about understanding how network traffic really flows and using tools like Zeke or Snort to spot weird behavior and brute-force attempts.
