About This Video

I’m out at our cabin in rural Colorado and I’m walking you through a full, beginner-friendly Starlink setup—from unboxing to getting online. Starlink has been the perfect option for us because we’re basically in the middle of nowhere with no real alternatives, and at the time I filmed this there was an amazing deal on the hardware plus a lower monthly plan. I also show you why it’s smart to pre-download the Starlink app if you’re remote, because even a simple app download can take forever when you’ve only got a bar of service. In the video, I set the dish up temporarily in the yard using the kickstand, then I show the exact cable routing and connections: power adapter to the router, long cable from router to the dish, and then everything plugged in. From there, I connect to the default “Starlink” Wi‑Fi, pair in the app, and let the dish search for satellites. I also show how to fix alignment (mine was off by 13°), how to check for obstructions, and why you should give it time to calibrate. Finally, I run a speed test (I saw peaks around 180 Mbps out here) and I show how to set a custom Wi‑Fi name and password for a more secure setup.
