About This Video

In this video I tested the SyncWire Wireless CarPlay Adapter to turn my Toyota 4Runner’s wired-only Apple CarPlay into a wireless setup. I’ve been looking forward to trying one of these because having to plug in a Lightning cable every single time is just frustrating—plus it creates that annoying cable mess in the center console and there’s not even a great spot to set your phone. I unbox everything (it’s basically three items: the adapter, a USB-C to USB adapter, and an easy instruction manual), then I walk you through setup step by step in the 4Runner. The install is super simple: plug the adapter into the vehicle’s USB port, wait for the power lights, and pair it from your iPhone over Bluetooth (it showed up for me as “cxz converter”). Once connected, CarPlay pops up on the screen like normal—except now it’s wireless. I demo a few basics like Spotify and Maps, and overall I give it a big thumbs up because it cleans things up and makes CarPlay way more convenient.
