I came across a great article by Reuters that explains how parents are reacting to these new rules. This short video should inspire anyone who wonders whether ESL tutoring will still be required. The answer is a resounding YES, although it will be interesting to see whether the parents will use foreign online ESL teachers, as we are currently banned from teaching in China! Go independent, that's what I'm doing and it will open a world of opportunity for you. teachwithtess@gmail.com https://www.teachwithtess.com/ What to watch next: Home classroom setup - https://youtu.be/8el-QhRKH_4 Outschool - New teacher success - https://youtu.be/UaZPOxsQhkA 5 tips for new online ESL teachers - https://youtu.be/Z0dmWk-BL9c How to teach ESL full time - https://youtu.be/dRAg0aE3F3E

About This Video

In this video I talk about the new Chinese regulations and the big question so many online ESL teachers are asking: “Is there still going to be demand?” I found a really useful Reuters article that explains how parents are reacting to the rules, and honestly, it’s reassuring. Even with all the restrictions, parents still want English tuition for their kids — and the takeaway is a loud, clear YES: ESL tutoring is still required. The twist (and it’s a big one) is that foreign online ESL teachers are currently banned from teaching in China, so the demand doesn’t automatically mean the old company-based ESL jobs will come back the way they were. That’s why I keep coming back to the same advice: go independent. It’s what I’m doing, because it opens up far more opportunity than waiting around for platforms to “fix” things. If you’re serious about earning remotely and building a freer life (travel, house sitting, all of it), this is your sign to start building something that isn’t dependent on one country’s rules.
