Maker Education and Culture as a Strategy for Social Transformation | Rodnil Lisbôa | TEDxFECAP

The way we learn is still, to a large extent, based on the transmission of content, while the world increasingly demands people who are capable of experimenting, solving problems, and creating real solutions. Maker culture emerges as a response to this mismatch, placing making at the center of the educational process and transforming learning into something active, practical, and meaningful. More than teaching tools, this approach develops autonomy, critical thinking, and a more conscious relationship with science and technology. It forms individuals who not only consume knowledge, but also feel capable of intervening in their own reality. In diverse urban contexts such as the central region of São Paulo, this perspective becomes even more powerful. By bringing schools, universities, and communities closer together, maker culture shows that innovation does not depend on major resources, but on repertoire, collaboration, and intention. This opens space for local solutions, strengthens youth protagonism, and contributes to building a more inclusive, connected, and transformative education. Possui graduação em Ciências Naturais pela USP e em Física pelas Faculdades Oswaldo Cruz. É mestre em Ensino de Física pela Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC). Possui especializações em História e Ensino das Ciências (UFABC) e em Inteligência Artificial e Computacional (UFV).Atualmente, cursa especialização em Robótica (UFV), especialização em Informática na Educação (IFSULDEMINAS) e mestrado em Ensino e História de Ciências e de Matemática (UFABC).Atua como docente há 17 anos no ensino básico e superior. É professor da Fundação Escola de Comércio Álvares Penteado, onde leciona Matemática, Física, Sistemas Embarcados com ênfase em IoT, Estatística Inferencial e Álgebra Linear.É coordenador geral do Desafio Maker FECAP. Desenvolve pesquisas na área de Educação Maker no ensino de Matemática e Ciências, com foco na integração entre cultura maker, inovação tecnológica e metodologias ativas em ambientes educacionais.
