Today, we’re getting the last of the Adirondack Blue and Purple Majesty potatoes in the ground before they start rooting out of the containers. It’s a bit of a race against time, and we might have lost one to the "mush," but that’s the reality of a living garden. Inside this update: Potato Planting: Working with purple varieties known for high antioxidants and that deep, vibrant color. The Overwintered Pepper: Seeing the payoff of pruning back last year's pepper plant. It’s already showing more vigor than its first year. Rhubarb Search: Finding the perfect permanent spot for our rhubarb crowns so they can finally settle in. The Wood Chip Life: A quick look at the "chop and drop" progress and why about 20 dump truck loads of chips never seems to be enough. Gardening here in Summerville means working with the humidity and the heat, and every year is a new experiment. If you’re looking to build your own backyard jungle, stick around. Support the Forest: If you want to help keep the wood chips moving, check out the links in the description. Whether you’re buying garden gear or just doing your usual shopping, that small commission helps me keep this ecosystem growing. Connect with the Garage: For the mechanical side of things, check out my other channel, https://www.youtube.com/@oftenwrongparadigm, for more of my garage projects! Located in Summerville, SC, where the line of Zone 8B and 9A goes nearly straight across my property. So what to do? I'm going to try growing anything I can get away with from zone 9 and maybe zone 10! Might be getting some guava, citrus, papaya, and even mango’s to try to get them to grow and thrive in my little food forest. I have watched days to weeks worth of YouTube videos on Back to Eden Gardening, wood chip gardening, permaculture, planting guilds and many other styles of gardening. I’m doing my own thing but still following what I’ve learned from all of these great youtube teachers, as well as grow a regenerative and organic garden. But seriously, a big thank you to all the creators I’ve been watching that have been outstanding at teaching me. I can only hope my videos continue to assist others and show that anyone with the willingness to try this, you can do it too! Clicking on these links is part of the amazon associates program. It costs you nothing, but supports this channel whenever you buy something you were probably already going to buy anyway. It doesn’t even have to be one of these items. Buy whatever you want, it helps support this channel. All proceeds go straight back into the channel content to make more videos for you. Thank you!
