In this video I show you exactly how I add and customize Streamlabs overlays—and yes, this works in Streamlabs Desktop and OBS too. I start inside Streamlabs Desktop: download, log in, then go to the Overlays dropdown and pick a theme. I also show you my little workaround for figuring out what’s free vs paid, because on Desktop I couldn’t find a clean “free overlays” section, so you sometimes have to click around and check. Once the overlay is installed, the real work is customization. I walk through the process I use every time: click through each scene, resize or remove anything you don’t need, and fix positioning for both horizontal and vertical outputs (especially if you’re doing dual output for TikTok-friendly landscape + portrait). I show how to move the alert box, hide the wrong webcam frame (4:3 vs 16:9), use Transform options like Center Horizontal/Vertical, and why I prefer removing unused sources to prevent confusion. Then I switch to OBS: install the Streamlabs OBS plugin, open the Streamlabs menu, choose overlays (including a clear Free Overlays section), install, and customize the same way—hide what you don’t want, lock what you do.
