When a PS4 won’t turn on, I don’t start with guesswork—I start with the fastest checks that fix the majority of “dead console” cases. In this video I walk you through the basics the right way: unplugging the power cord from both the console and the wall, waiting a full 60 seconds to drain residual charge, then plugging it back in firmly. I also show you why I avoid power strips during testing and how to verify the wall outlet is actually working using a lamp or phone charger. If that doesn’t do it, I move to the hard reset (hold power for 10 seconds until you hear two beeps, unplug, and wait about 20 minutes). After that, I use Safe Mode with a controller connected by USB, then try “Restart PS4.” If Safe Mode loads but normal boot fails, I run “Rebuild Database” to reorganize the drive without deleting saved data (it can take a while). Finally, I cover the hardware side: dust in the vents, overheating, testing the power button by inserting a disc, and when it’s time to consider a PSU replacement or professional repair.
