I’ve been testing the Meta Display glasses for weeks, and in this video I give my honest opinion—pros, cons, and a bunch of reasons why, for me, they just aren’t it. These are Meta’s first consumer in-lens display glasses, but it’s a single display in the right lens, and that matters. The display is small (600x600), the gestures feel backwards and still aren’t intuitive even after weeks, and I kept fighting the controls just to wake the screen up. On top of that, wearing them for even 10–15 minutes was giving me a legit headache, which made this one of the worst smart glasses review experiences I’ve had. I walk through the core apps and features—messages (WhatsApp/Instagram/Messenger), calls, camera, music controls, maps, and captions/translation. Maps should be the killer feature, but navigation wasn’t available in my location (and I’m in Oregon), and the minimap is so zoomed out you can’t even tell what street you’re on—and you can’t zoom in. Captions and translation are cool, but the language options are limited, and you even have to download English before using it. My takeaway: if you’ve never tried display glasses you might think these are “crazy,” but compared to other display glasses I’ve tested, these feel like a beta product that doesn’t justify the $800 price.
