HOW TO MAKE PORTO'S GUAVA & CHEESE STRUDEL AT HOME | Bake #withme | Easy recipe Bake with me! I made Porto's guava and cheese pastry at home because I was really craving some :3 👍 & subscribe if you ♥️ the video :) After moving 300+ miles away, getting Porto's (Cuban bakery) is a rare commodity nowadays. During this shelter in place order, I started eyeing Porto's Bake at Home products (or their ads were targeting me..) But man, I really didn't want to order a bunch in order to get free shipping or to get my money's worth. There's just no fridge space and money for this! So I decided to make my own Guava & Cheese strudels at home (my favorite pastry from Porto's). You gotta do what you gotta do. I found a few recipes online, but I mainly followed a sassy's spoon's recipe: https://asassyspoon.com/guava-cheese-pastries/ The recipe is super easy to make, but I bought the wrong puff pastry sheet so it took me so much longer. I DO NOT recommend unless necessary. 😱 Ingredients: -Pepperidge Farm Frozen Puff pastry sheets (thaw before using) ~$4.99 -Guava paste: I found it on Amazon ~$4/block -Cream cheese: ~$5 -1 egg yolk -1 tsp milk -Sugar Directions: 1. Take out the thawed puff pastry and cut each piece into halves (we'll try to make 6 guava cheese pastries). If you didn't buy the wrong one like me, just unfold one of the sheets and cut into 9 squares (you can cut after you place all the fillings on top too). 2. Cut the block of guava paste into smaller rectangular pieces. You will not need the entire block! Then, place 2 guava paste pieces on each puff pastry. I had to roll out my puff pastry sheets in order to fit all the fillings.... 3. Cut cream cheese into small rectangular pieces and place one on top of each pastry. 4. Make egg wash: I mixed 1 egg yolk and 1 tsp of milk. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. 5. Brush egg wash around the edges of each pastry. Try not to get the pan. Place the other half of the puff pastry on top to seal. 6. Crimp the edges to seal (I didn't know what this means, but google says to "compress (something) into small folds or ridges"). bake #withme #easyrecipe #easybaking 7. Brush more egg wash on top, send it to the oven, and set timer for 25 minutes! 8. Enjoy! -- 💌 Instagram: @steffie.lin #portos #bakewithme #easybakingrecipe #bakeathome #guavacheesestrudel
