In this video I’m talking about some pretty huge news for professions in Midnight WoW: we’ve got datamined info pointing to profession specialization (knowledge point) resets coming in patch 12.0.5. If you’re like a lot of people coming back to WoW and you feel like you spent your knowledge points in the wrong place, this is the kind of relief you’ve been waiting for. Where you put those points decides what you can craft and how you make gold, so messing it up early can feel awful. According to the 12.0.5 PTR datamining, it looks like there’s a new currency tied to resetting specializations. That’s important because it hints we might be able to earn multiple resets over time—but I’m tempering expectations because it could also just be a one-time quest reward. I also go into what I’d personally like to see: more than one reset, but with some kind of limitation (time-gated, hard to earn, or tied to the economy) so you can’t just freely swap specs and abuse the system. And while we’re on professions, I rant a bit about catch-up for crafting knowledge points. Gathering and enchanting catch-up feels great. Crafting catch-up right now sucks, and I’d love a repeatable “hand in crafted items for knowledge points” system to bring back demand and make catching up actually possible.
