In this video I report on travelling by train from the UK to St Anton in Austria—step by step, the way I actually did it. I start with Eurostar from London to Paris, then switch to TGV Lyria to Zurich, before finishing with ÖBB Nightjet services to get me into St Anton itself. If you’re trying to work out whether a flight-free trip to the Alps is realistic, this is exactly the kind of route that makes it doable. The big takeaway is that you can stitch together international rail in a pretty straightforward way if you plan the legs: UK to France, France to Switzerland, then an overnight train towards the Austrian Alps.
