In this video I take you through exactly how I got from the UK to Isola 2000 in the Alpes Maritimes without flying—using a mix of train and bus via Nice. I’m travelling with the Ski Flight Free mindset, so the focus is on practical, repeatable steps: getting to Paris, hopping on the overnight ‘train de nuit’ down to Nice, and then carrying on to the resort the following day. If you’ve ever wondered whether a ski trip by train is actually doable (and not a logistical nightmare), this is the real-world version. I also build in a day in Nice, which is a handy way to break up the journey and makes the whole trip feel more like a holiday rather than a transfer. Because I went on to Les 3 Vallées afterwards, I used a four-day, first class Interrail pass (bought from Rail Europe), and I talk through why that made sense for this kind of multi-stop itinerary.
