AirBug: Airbnb Bookings Stopped Suddenly! You Have a Problem In these video playlists, we report Airbnb website bugs and their solutions. To better understand these bugs and solutions, you may want to watch the essential video "Airbnb Website Bugs" when you have time to view it. The link to that important video is listed in the Description of this video. Problem and Description: Since the beginning of this year (2024), Airbnb has been revising and updating its website and app. Although the improvements are limited, they have unfortunately introduced some serious bugs. We have reported some of them, but some bugs are really tricky and take time to find. Today, we received the following message from a guest: “Hello, I have a question about this place's offers: Is there hot water available for a shower?” Of course, we have hot water. I know this Airbnb bug well, but there is a new twist this time. Airbnb makes it more difficult to find such bugs now. When you preview the listing, it displays the following, and it seems to be fine. But then, when you click “Show all 13 amenities,” it displays the following amenity listing. It crosses out Dryers, Essentials, Heating, and Hot water, as seen in the display below. This is ridiculous, as the above items are correctly displayed in the original listing, but then somehow it was changed by Airbnb. We are lucky to have a potential guest inform us. Otherwise, this listing would stay vacant for an extended period. Solution: Once you know the listing information is incorrect, making a correction on the amenity availability is not difficult. The issue is how to know that the amenity availability has been changed. Usually, when a listing is not booked for a while, it is a good idea to review the listing description. It is even better if you search your own listing as a guest and see how it is displayed by Airbnb. You may be shocked by what information is displayed and how it is displayed. If this is not bad enough, Airbnb may add an amenity to your listing. A while ago, a guest was very unhappy and complained that they could not find the hot tub at their stay. We were very surprised by the question and thought the guest was in error as we do not have a hot tub for that lising. However, with closer checking, we found Airbnb added “Hot tub” to that listing. It is a bit of a mystery how these types of errors occur. A very likely scenario is that these items in the original listing are left open (neither checked nor unchecked), and the Airbnb website fills in the blank with the default “Not Available” in its new release. The other situation occurs when Airbnb adds new items to its amenity list. In this latter case, Airbnb automatically adds them to your listing. These two kind of errors occur somewhat randomly, making it difficult to monitor. It is unfortunate that you almost have to wait until a guest tells you. That is a bit late and costly. It is a good practice to review a listing if the booking rate is poor for the listing. We hope this suggestion helps. Please let us know if you have a similar experience or a better suggestion.
