In this video I’m tearing down a Predator/Honda-clone style carb and showing the simple step people miss almost every single time when they “clean the carb.” Yeah, everybody pulls the bowl, checks the float and needle, and runs through the obvious passages. Then they pop the main jet out and call it good. The problem is there’s something sitting right above that main jet that’ll still keep you chasing your tail. That part is the emulsion tube (emulsifier). You can look down the carb throat and see the tube sticking up, then just push it out through the same hole the main jet came out of. On this one you can literally see corrosion—usually ethanol fuel—and those tiny side holes plug up fast. I use a welding tip cleaner/carb cleaning wire set (Harbor Freight, Amazon, welding supply… wherever) to actually clear those little orifices. I also point out an idle issue: back the idle screw out, pull the idle jet (it’s held in with a little O-ring), and clean that tiny idle orifice. If you’re fighting a no-idle or rough-idle carb, don’t miss the emulsion tube and idle jet cleanup.
