Can I rant for a couple of minutes? Because I just watched The Game Awards nominations and I’m genuinely baffled at how Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 got treated. I’m not here to dunk on Clair Obscure Expedition 33—loads of people adore it and I’m sure it’s brilliant—it just wasn’t for me. What got under my skin was seeing three performance nominations eaten up by one game, including Charlie Cox (yes, lovely guy, great actor)… who was apparently in the booth for a day and barely in it. Meanwhile, someone like Tom McKay—who put in months of mocap and recording—doesn’t even get a look-in. That just feels off. And don’t even get me started on Best Music/Score. I feel genuinely bad for Jan Valta and Adam Sporka because the KCD2 soundtrack is phenomenal—“Recorder” and “St. Barbara” are absolute standouts—and it not being nominated is wild to me. In my own personal “Roxy in her bedroom in her pants” awards, KCD2 is my Game of the Year. At least it’s up for Best RPG, and yes, I voted for it. I just think KCD2 deserved better, full stop.
