I’m just gonna come out and say it: Ghost of Yotei on a base PS5 is the best looking game I’ve ever played. I had a proper little runabout—set up camp wherever I wanted, cooked some fish (yes, with the controller motion stuff), played the shamisen, and basically got distracted by how gorgeous the world is every five seconds. The wind navigation is such a smart way to guide you without slapping markers all over the screen, and I love how the HUD just disappears so you can actually breathe in the scenery. In this video I go bounty hunting, get into some really satisfying fights, and show off a bunch of what makes the combat feel better than what I’ve been playing in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. I also jump into photo mode with ray tracing, mess with particles, weather, time of day down to the minute, and grab some screenshots because this game is straight-up art. If you like that KCD-style discovery—stumbling into camps, NPCs, random events, and side stories—you’ll feel right at home here. Also: PS5 controller effects are cool… battery life still sucks.
