But if you picked up sewing later in life and you’re the only person you know who sews, it can get lonely fast—especially when you just want someone to ask a quick question, celebrate a win, or talk you off the ledge before you rip everything out. In this livestream, I talk about building a sewing life—not just finishing projects. That means finding (or creating) community, making sewing friends, and having a place to share knowledge about fabric, fitting, and real-life sewing habits. I also share what I’m seeing on a Texas quilt shop hop (yes, it’s huge), why quilt shops can be a great resource for garment sewists, and my ongoing rant that “quilting cotton” isn’t a fabric type—it’s a category. I show patterns I picked up (including some $2 vintage gems), talk through fabric weaves like broadcloth and poplin, and explain how having a second set of sewing eyes can save a project when you’re stuck.
