About This Video

For the past month, I’ve been using Apple’s new Sleep Score on watchOS 26, and yeah—people have pretty mixed opinions on it. In this video, I break down what it actually is, how to turn it on, and what you’re really getting. Sleep Score is a simple 1–100 number based on three things: sleep duration (50% of the score), bedtime (20%), and interruptions (20%). You can tap into the categories to see what’s pulling your score up or down, and then back out into the more detailed sleep view with awake/REM/core/deep plus your trends over the last couple weeks. But after a month, my main takeaway is this: Sleep Score only tells half the story. I’ve had nights where I scored nearly perfect and still woke up feeling exhausted, because wrist-based sleep tracking is ultimately “it seemed you slept well,” not “you definitely slept well.” That said, I don’t think that makes it bad. I treat Sleep Score like step one—an easy way to clean up sleep hygiene (consistent bedtime, better duration, fewer interruptions), and then if you’re still tired, it’s a sign something else is going on under the hood—stress, eating too late, and so on. It’s not a miracle app, but it absolutely gets the ball rolling.
