I break down the Lightning port situation, the awkward “stick it into the iPad” method (it works in a bind, but it feels unsafe), and the dongle Apple included that almost nobody brings up. I also cover battery life after 6 years (still around a full workday for me, though I do charge it a bit more often now), plus the accessories I used to keep it looking pristine. My takeaway: if you’re on an older iPad that supports it, yes—I’d still recommend the Apple Pencil Gen 1. If you’re buying a newer iPad, grab the newer Pencil because Apple improved this a lot.
