Molesworth Road to Kaikōura | RTW S6 EP43 This week on our round-the-world motorcycle journey, we ride the legendary Molesworth Road in New Zealand. Stretching through the remote South Island high country, the Molesworth Station route is New Zealand’s longest public access backcountry road, covering nearly 180 km of isolated gravel roads, river valleys, open farmland, and mountain scenery with barely another soul in sight. Riding two-up on our BMW R1300 GSA “Storm”, we cross endless dusty tracks, huge high-country stations, and some of the most remote landscapes we’ve seen anywhere in New Zealand before eventually reaching the dramatic coastline of Kaikōura. Once used as a historic stock route between Canterbury and Marlborough, the Molesworth Road is only open seasonally and has become one of the country’s most iconic adventure riding routes. From empty valleys and winding gravel roads to wildlife, mountain passes, and the feeling of complete isolation, this turned into one of the most memorable riding days of our New Zealand journey. We’re Sean & Emily from Heading Around, currently riding around the world together on our BMW R1300 GSA “Storm”. 🛒 Our Travel Shop: Explore our travel-tested gear & stickers: https://seanandemilytravels.com/shop 🗺️ Navigation App – calimoto: Get a 30-day free trial ➤ Use code: S&E30 Get 10% off yearly plans ➤ Use code: S&E10 Start here: https://linktr.ee/calimoto_SeanandEmily 🛟 Travel Safety – Protected by Global Rescue: Worldwide emergency rescue, evacuation, and medical support for overlanders:
