We leave Haast and follow the West Coast south, past the point most people turn around… and just keep going. Fewer cars, fewer signs, less of everything. The road narrows, the coastline gets wilder, and before long it feels like we’ve ridden out of New Zealand and into something else entirely. Jackson Bay is where it ends. No crowds, no big attraction… just the ocean and the quiet feeling that you’ve gone as far as you can go on two wheels. That’s exactly why we went. Then it’s back north towards Franz Josef, riding the same stretch most people rush through, just in a completely different way.
