In this video I’m out at the Sam Mikulak Invitational 2025 at the Sailor Circus in Sarasota, Florida, and the whole goal is simple: get you inside the action with a true “mic’d up” perspective. I’m following Coach Syque Caesar and capturing the real sounds of the meet—quick coaching cues, reactions, and the energy you only get when you’re standing right there on the floor. It’s a behind-the-scenes style shoot with some huge names in the gym—Syque, Sam Mikulak, Brody Malone, Alex Diab, and the EVO Men’s Gymnastics team. From a filmmaking standpoint, this is the kind of event coverage I love because it forces you to be practical: you need audio that’s usable in a loud venue, you need gear that’s fast to deploy, and you need a workflow that doesn’t slow you down when something cool happens for two seconds and then it’s gone. If you’re trying to shoot documentary/event content, this is a good example of how I approach capturing story and sound in a real environment—keep it moving, keep it clean, and don’t overcomplicate the setup.
