What does a team coach do?

Team coaching is on the rise and there is a reason: more and more people are realising that relatedeness and relationships are a big part of performance (see Deci & Ryan Self Determination theory) As a coach if you're skilled and trained as a team coach it gives you another string to your bow and means you can get involved in interesting and rewarding work. Equally, it's very difficult for AI to coach teams so you're also future proofing your career. When you're looking at team coaching often it's a hybrid or blend with facilitation being a usual part of the mix. Team coaches usually work in pairs so they can pick up on the different behaviours in the room. Usually team coaching assignments are long term with quarterly meetings (although they can be more or less frequent) and often include in person and online sessions. They are a great way to build culture and they always start with establishing trust : the heart of a successful team. Most team coaches do a combination of work with teams and 1:1 or group coaching and love the variety as well as the fact you can see the real impact in working with teams over a longer period of time: I know that I love this work.
