When we're running a business the holidays can seem daunting. Maybe we have financial targets we haven't met, maybe we've still got a list as long as our arm of things we've "got" to do. In this video I share my own tips. After nearly a decade running my business I know that there are seasonal rhythms that some times things are 'busier" and sometimes "quieter". December is traditionally a higher sales month for us as people decide on what they want to commit to in the new year yet it's a lower delivery month. When you're thinking about the holidays consider: - Marketing and business development : this might not mean lots of meetings yet having ads running, emails being sent and a social media presence can help (especially during Twixmas) - Your existing clients: I don't think I've ever had a client call during this time however we always communicate clearly when we are and aren't available so people know what to expect: managing expectations is key - Having a proper rest and digital detox even for a few days (this is harder for me to do across the holidays as all my team have the time off, I do have a full 10 days off in February though so don't feel too bad for me!) - Structure your activities and consider having sales events before time off so you can switch off secure in the fact that you've got the money coming in - Know the rhythm that works for you where you are right now - Consider what is on your list which is essential and what can wait until next year As an independent coach my rhythm was very different to a CEO: this year I've got 10 days off over 2 1/2 weeks and it works well for the business and for me. Always consider how you want to be and my top tip is don't feel "bad" if you do work remember you do have ownership.
