Set three years after the onset of the Clone Wars, the plot follows Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) as he becomes increasingly disillusioned with the Jedi Council. Manipulated by Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), who is secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Anakin is lured to the dark side with the promise of saving his wife, Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman), from a tragic fate. This transformation leads to the fall of the Republic and the birth of the Galactic Empire. The narrative reaches its emotional peak with the execution of Order 66, a command that turns the clone army against the Jedi across the galaxy. The screenplay focuses on the tragic betrayal of the Jedi Order and the rise of Darth Vader.
