Directed by Jake Kasdan, Jumanji: The Next Level is a 2019 fantasy action-comedy and the direct sequel to the 2017 hit. The plot follows the original group of friends as they re-enter the game to rescue Spencer, only to find that the mechanics have changed. The ensemble cast returns, including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, with new additions Danny DeVito and Danny Glover. The narrative introduces a fresh twist by having the grandfathers sucked into the game, resulting in hilarious new avatar dynamics and body-swap performances. The screenplay expands the world of Jumanji by moving beyond the jungle into vast desert dunes and icy mountain peaks. To win, the group must recover the Falcon Jewel from the villainous Jurgen the Brutal. The story explores themes of aging, the value of long-term friendship, and the importance of teamwork.
