Set in 1935, the plot follows Harrison Ford as the legendary archaeologist Indiana Jones, who finds himself in India after a narrow escape from a Chinese mob. Accompanied by his young sidekick Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) and nightclub singer Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw), Indy is recruited by a desperate village to recover a sacred Sankara Stone and rescue their kidnapped children from a sinister cult. The narrative dives into dark, supernatural territory as the trio discovers a secret underground temple beneath Pankot Palace. Led by the terrifying high priest Mola Ram (Amrish Puri), the Thuggee cult practices human sacrifice and utilizes "Black Sleep" mind control to enslave children in their mines.
