Set in a violent, futuristic America, the story centers on a brutal annual sporting event known as the Transcontinental Road Race, where drivers compete across the country in weaponized cars, earning points not just for speed but for running down pedestrians. The government uses the race as a form of mass entertainment to distract the populace and maintain control. David Carradine stars as Frankenstein, the reigning champion and a mysterious figure who hides his identity behind a mask. Sylvester Stallone co-stars as his ruthless rival, Machine Gun Joe Viterbo.
