This is my favorite sampling setup so far. What I love about this setup is I can sample anything on my iPad! Like YouTube, Spotify, or sample VSTs which can also be sequenced and controlled from Digitakt II. Having the Octatrack in the mix allows me to sample and chop samples from the iPad through the Digitakt II or resample the Digitakt back and forth between the two boxes. This helps me create infinite sounds and take samples to other worldly places haha! About This Video

This video is all about my favorite sampling setup so far — what I call the “Infinity Sampler.” The goal is simple: I want to be able to grab audio from basically anywhere (my studio, a phone, or an iPad), and then chop it up, resample it, and bounce it back and forth between boxes endlessly. I start from complete scratch with blank projects, fresh cables, and the exact MIDI + audio routing so you can replicate it without guessing. I walk you through MIDI sync the clean way: transport and clock, but no notes or CC, because that’s where the chaos starts (Digitakt knobs moving Octatrack stuff, notes triggering weirdness, etc.). Then I explain the “snake eating its own tail” routing: Digitakt main outs into Octatrack AB, Octatrack cue outs back into Digitakt inputs. Using the Octatrack’s cue system is the secret sauce — it lets me choose what gets sent to Digitakt so I can sample safely without feedback and without accidentally layering stuff I didn’t mean to. Finally, the bonus is the real game changer: USB audio from an iPad into Digitakt II, so I can sample YouTube, Spotify, browser audio, or iPad plugins, then sequence the iPad from Digitakt. I also show how I solved insane MIDI feedback by turning off Octatrack’s Audio CC In/Audio Note In and disabling the auto channel. Once it’s set, you can take samples to other worldly places… responsibly.
