I tested the iPhone Air because I’ve always been into thin, lightweight tech, and this phone honestly took me back to that 2014 iPhone 6 Plus era. On paper, it’s still very “Apple”: a big 6.5-inch OLED with Dynamic Island and 120Hz, IP68, titanium frame, Ceramic Shield 2, and it’s wild that it’s only 5.5mm thin and 165g. The first time you hold it, it doesn’t even feel real—like a dummy model—but once you actually live with it, the novelty starts to fade and the trade-offs show up. Battery is the obvious compromise. For normal stuff like scrolling, texting, GPS, and Spotify, it’ll get you morning to night, but if you push it like I do (FaceTime, studying, socials, video), you’ll feel it by afternoon. Camera-wise, it’s a single 48MP main lens (mostly 12MP) and it’s really, really good for what most people shoot—no ultrawide, no zoom—plus video looks like classic iPhone, but I was disappointed there’s no log shooting. Performance is strong with the A19 and 12GB RAM, but thermals can get warm without Pro-level cooling, and the speakers were my biggest letdown: single mono, can sound harsh, not that loud, and easy to cover. My takeaway: if you love minimalism and thin design, you’ll like it—but sometimes less really does mean less, especially at $1,000.
