In this video I’m walking you through my new compact Quad Cortex pedalboard that I’m using for both studio and live work. I’d been on a Line 6 Helix LT for a while and I genuinely loved that rig, but moving to the Neural DSP Quad Cortex has taken things up a level for me—especially in terms of portability and just making day-to-day “working bassist” life easier. I start with a quick overview of the board, then get into the important bits you’ll want to think about if you’re building something similar. I break the whole setup down piece by piece: the Quad Cortex as the brain, the Hotone Tuner Press handling tuning plus volume/expression duties, and a clean, reliable power setup with the Walrus Audio Canvas Power HP. The board itself is a Temple Audio SOLO platform, so I can keep everything tidy with the IEC mains module, proper mounting plates, and a soft case that actually makes carrying it to gigs painless. I also show how I physically put the board together, including cabling choices (EBS flat patch cables) to keep it compact and gig-proof. If you’re trying to downsize without compromising tones, this is exactly the kind of build that makes sense.
