I honestly can’t believe we finally did this—Day 1 of our 10-day California road trip started with Eshaani’s first-ever flight! We flew from Charlotte to Las Vegas with our 8-month-old baby girl, and as first-time parents we were excited but also kind of nervous because we had no idea how things were going to go. At the airport we tried self check-in, but because we had a stroller we needed a staff override. After security, it was all about managing our carry-ons, stroller, diaper bag—and Eshaani’s “clingy phase” (she was not going to anyone except mama!). On the flight, I nursed her during takeoff because she doesn’t use a pacifier, and sucking really helps with ear pressure. We used baby noise-canceling ear plugs/headphones for cabin noise, and I packed her comfort must-haves—like her little donut piece from a stacking toy set—plus suction toys and books to keep her busy. For snacks, I kept it safe with fruits, puffed rice, roasted chana, and even a paratha. After landing in Vegas, we picked up the gate-checked stroller right at the gate, grabbed baggage and car seat, and took the rental car shuttle (it was surprisingly smooth and systematic). We ended the night at Downtown Grand Hotel with a quick room tour—Vegas vibes officially started, and yes, we didn’t even have to say sorry to the people sitting around us because Eshaani did so well!
