In this video I take a dive into what I’m calling the most expensive mainstream desktop graphics card ever — the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 OC. I had to correct myself a bit because “mainstream” feels like a joke when this thing is almost S$7,000… and I even saw a listing above S$10,000. But price aside, I wanted to answer the real question: what kind of performance and power do you actually get from this monster, and is it just a flex or is it actually useful? I paired the Astral 5090 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and tested at stock settings with standard fan curves. At 2K and 4K Ultra (no ray tracing, no DLSS), it’s roughly ~23 FPS ahead of the 5080 and about ~50 FPS ahead of the 4080. With ray tracing pushed hard (including Cyberpunk RT Overdrive), the 5090 surprised me by holding 60 FPS at 2K without the “magic AI buttons,” and it turns into a cinematic 30 FPS at 4K before you start helping it with DLSS and frame gen. I also cover productivity (V-Ray and Blender), the unique Astral design with the 4-fan setup (3 intake + 1 exhaust), temps and noise, the extra fan headers, IO, and the big one: power draw hitting ~440–460W in Cyberpunk. ASUS recommends a 1000W PSU, and honestly, with higher-power CPUs, more headroom is just safer.
