In this video, I’m messing around with one of the most unique mini-ITX cases I’ve touched: In Win’s Mod Free Mini II. The cool part is you’re not locked into a single “case” — you can run it as a standalone unit, or you can literally combine two (or even three) frames together. I’m showing you how I put two Mod Free Mini IIs together, mainly because one unit on its own doesn’t really give you proper space for a discrete GPU setup the way I wanted. Not gonna lie, combining them was harder than I expected. The manual didn’t explain how to do it, so it was a lot of trial and error (and yes, I had to consult In Win for help). I walk through the GPU expansion bracket that’s specific to this case (other brackets won’t line up), how I mounted the riser cable, and why the riser routing is basically a puzzle because you’re going from vertical to horizontal with very limited space. I also cover airflow thoughts, panel fitment, and the base plate expansion “jigsaw” to physically join the two units. And yeah… disaster struck when the GPU unit dropped and bent the frame, but the PC still ran. I also share quick performance numbers for a 5600G + RX 6600 XT, plus the rough cost of the two-case setup (about USD $445 including the Gen 4 riser and GPU bracket).
