In this video I’m reviewing Marc Jacobs Perfect Absolute, the newest Perfect flanker, and honestly… it was love at first sniff for me. This wasn’t a blind buy—I tested it at the airport before I even knew it was available in the UK, and I immediately fell for it. I also talk about my “complicated” history with the Perfect line: the original was just okay, the EDT wasn’t my thing, but I was obsessed with Perfect Intense and I loved last year’s Perfect Elixir. Basically, the heavier and stronger the Perfect release is, the more I tend to like it—so I’m not surprised Perfect Absolute is a hit for me. That said, I’m opening with a warning: do not blind buy this one. Perfect Absolute is sweet, fruity and ambery with fig and caramel up top, jasmine in the middle, and amber in the base—and those notes can clash on skin and easily turn into headache territory for some people. To me it’s a proper sexy, dark, indulgent night-out scent with great longevity and really good sillage, but it’s strictly cold-weather (anything warmer than about 15°C would be too much for me). I also touch on comparisons—some people get a Decadence vibe, and while it’s not a dupe, I can see the connection in that sexy, fruity, dark mood.
