About This Video

In this video I’m reviewing Dossier’s Lost Americana, one of their original creations (not an “inspired by” scent) made in collaboration with MGK. I’ve worked with Dossier quite a few times, and I always appreciate that their fragrances are crafted in France, vegan, and have a strong essential oil concentration (always above 15%, and often around 18%). I also love the classic Dossier bottle—simple, sturdy, elegant, and with a really nice sprayer. I walk you through the full note breakdown and then test it properly on skin. On first spray I get a lot of incense, warm spices, and an amber-y vibe, with a touch of sweetness that isn’t overdone. To me it reads very unisex—doesn’t lean overly feminine or masculine—and while it’s definitely warm and spicy (my kind of scent), I can actually see it working in warmer weather as an evening fragrance. After wearing it for a while, I notice it’s not super linear: it starts smoky and spicy, then settles into something more earthy with patchouli and vetiver coming through, plus a really gorgeous vanilla-chocolate nuance. It’s not a gourmand and it never turns too sweet, and the patchouli is present but not overwhelming. Sillage feels pretty good, and based on my experience with Dossier, I have high hopes for longevity—after about an hour it was still smelling really strong.
