About This Video

Hello friends, Heidi here from Rain Country. God is good all the time. In this video I’m showing you my whole process—how I make my herb-infused oil for skin cream, and then how I turn it into a thick, nourishing skin cream recipe that I’ve been using for 11–12 years. I walk through the herbs I commonly use (and how that changes year to year depending on what I harvest), how full I pack my jars, and why I do a slow, natural infusion with no added heat. I also share why I like avocado oil for this (long shelf life and less likely to go rancid), and why I leave the herbs in the oil until I actually need to strain it. Then I take you step-by-step through my updated method for making the cream itself using a digital scale and a simple melt-and-pour process. My standard batch is roughly 24 ounces total and uses infused oil, virgin coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax—plus optional essential oils for scent (I use natural essential oils, not fragrance oils). I explain my ratios, why I slightly reduce the beeswax so it doesn’t set up too hard, and how I keep heat off the infused oil as much as possible. I also give an alternate higher-infusion ratio (more like a salve), and I share how I personally use this cream daily—face, lips, hands, feet, and even a tiny dab on the ends of my hair.
