In this video I’m giving a little section of my dining room a makeover by swapping out my old black IKEA Besta console (I’ve had it through like four houses) for a tall hutch I found on Facebook Marketplace. My goal for this room is light, bright, and airy—more of that luxe glam vibe—so I knew the black hutch had to go. I’ll walk you through the reality of the project too, like realizing the shelves were permanent (so my coffee maker and Ninja Creami wouldn’t fit… I was so bummed) and dealing with the frosted film on the glass that ended up coming off when I pulled my painter’s tape. I test a paint color first and then admit defeat because I didn’t love it once it was fully on—so I repaint the entire hutch in Accessible Beige, one of those tried-and-true shades that works in so many different lighting situations. I also remove the old hardware, fill holes with wood filler (not my favorite step, I’m not gonna lie), tape off the glass, and finish it off with gorgeous budget-friendly gold handles from Amazon. Then comes the fun part: styling. I take you to HomeGoods with me for affordable glass, white-and-gold dishes, marble pieces, trays, and canisters to create a pretty but functional coffee/tea moment. I end up with organized shelves, grouped items on trays (because I love trays), and a finished hutch that feels cozy, elevated, and way more “me.”
