In this video I’m doing a complete start-to-finish bedroom makeover for my oldest daughter (she’s almost 13), and it’s a full surprise while she’s away at camp. Before she left, I quietly got her input by looking at Pinterest together—because she is picky with her style, and I wanted this room to feel like her. She asked for white walls with pink and gray, so I painted the room Pure White (Sherwin Williams) and used a gray called Willow for the accent wall. The biggest DIY in here is the modern board-and-batten accent wall behind her bed. I’m sharing how we planned the layout around the window, outlets, and plugs, plus why caulking and filling nail holes is the step that makes it look like it’s actually part of the wall (don’t skip it). Then I bring in the “cozy modern” vibe with budget-friendly finds: a soft velvet gray bed (with a USB charger!), a super cozy Amazon rug that cleaned up great after a chocolate ice cream spill, and the prettiest cloud-like feather light fixture. I finish it all off with styling—storage shelves, plug-in sconces, pink bedding, and a mirror with her color-changing lights—so it feels elevated, functional, and something she can grow into for years.
