In this video I’m swapping out an old, perfectly-good deadbolt for something a little more fun—a Eufy smart lock by Anker. I unbox everything so you can see what you actually get: the outside keypad, the inside lock/battery housing, the interior mounting plate, the deadbolt, striker plates, keys, screws, batteries, and the quick start guide. I also show the included drilling template, but since I already had a deadbolt in the door, I didn’t need to drill new holes for the main lock. From there I walk through the physical install step-by-step: pulling the old lock, installing the deadbolt (and making sure the “TOP” marking is facing up), feeding the keypad through the door, and lining up that oblong-shaped spindle so it only goes in the correct way. I mount the interior plate, plug in the wiring harness, and install the inside portion—plus a quick tip if your door is metal clad: I drilled small pilot holes through the metal skin to make the screws behave. Once it’s in, I test it with the key and show the lock indicator lights (yellow for locked, blue for unlocked). I also mention a small fitment note with the striker/mortise situation on my door, but it shuts fine so I left it. Finally, I point you to the QR code/app setup so you can finish configuration on your phone.
