About This Video

In this one I was totally mobile and honestly not even prepared to film. My daughter texted me while we were both at work and said her 2019 Toyota Camry driver’s side windshield wiper wasn’t working—and of course it was about to rain (and even spit snow). So I rolled over to her work, no audio gear, no camera setup, just trying to get her safe to drive home. Once I turned the key on and hit the wipers, sure enough only one wiper was moving. I popped the hood area view and pretty much saw it right away: the nut on the wiper arm was loose. When I grabbed the wiper and lifted it, the nut wasn’t turning with it, so I checked it and confirmed it was backed off. I tightened it down right there one-handed in the cold, tested the wipers again, and boom—both wipers working. The big takeaway: before you start chasing motors or linkages, check the simple stuff like a loose wiper arm nut. Quick, easy fix, and it got Addison back on the road able to see in the weather.
