About This Video

In this video I take you along on our wedding anniversary trip from Vienna to Mexico City, flying British Airways First Class on the Boeing 787-9. I start in Vienna Terminal 1 with the Club Europe feeder to London, show you why the Vienna Lounge is (hands down) the best lounge experience at VIE, and then we dive into the full Heathrow T5 First experience: the First Wing, private security, the BA First Lounge, and finally the Concorde Room. On the ground, I’m honest: the Concorde Room was exciting to finally see, but it felt crowded and surprisingly dark, and the food was hit-and-miss (fantastic bisque, but inedible fries and a dried “trout” situation). In the air, I walk through the 8-seat First cabin, the storage, amenities, and pajamas/slippers (still wearing those at home). Catering was a highlight—Do&Co really doesn’t disappoint—and the onboard meals were genuinely strong. The big question: is BA First “real” First in 2025? For me, it’s a step up from business class, but with caveats: the seat is the least spacious First I’ve flown, the controls and IFE were frustrating, Wi‑Fi was unreliable, and service was friendly but not particularly personal. I booked using 105,000 Avios + ~€360 per person (oddly cheaper than business), and I’d do it again mainly to try BA’s upcoming new First seat—otherwise I’d often pick Club Suite and save the Avios.
